Mary Louise Cox Memorial Poetry Garden

We have just completed Phase I of our latest community project: the Mary Louise Cox Memorial Poetry Garden. Come visit this lovely public space!

Located across the street from the Mamaroneck Library and the Emelin Theater, this intimate setting has three sculptures - the newest being a 5’ tall whimsical metal rabbit, and a bench dedicated to two of our local heroes in the arts community: Mary Louise Cox and her late husband, Fred Rosenberg.

Mary Louise was Poet Laureate of both the Village and the Town of Mamaroneck. She founded Poetry Live! - an annual event celebrating the voices of high school students from Westchester County, as well as many other impactful initiatives. Fred was on the Board of the Library and an integral contributor to the renovation that you see today.

The garden design and elements: new trees, plantings, and the sculpture, were donated by the Cox family as a gift to the Village.

Stay tuned for a formal dedication in early fall. In the meantime, please pass by and please let us know what you think!
