Landscaping Services Limited to Maintenance and Pest Control Operations Only

Pursuant to Executive Order 202.8, all non-essential businesses in New York State are required to reduce their in-person work force by 100%.  The Executive Order gave Empire State Development (esd.ny.gov) the sole authority to determine which types of businesses and activities are considered “essential”.

Regarding landscaping services, Empire State Development advised that only maintenance and pest control work are considered “essential.”  Cosmetic work – for example new planting – is considered non-essential. To read the full message regarding landscaping services, click here.

New York State PAUSE Enforcement Assistance Task Force

If you are aware of any non-essential gatherings or any non-essential businesses or entities operating in violation of "New York on PAUSE", here's some information:.

Governor Cuomo established the New York State PAUSE Enforcement Assistance Task Force where individuals can file complaints regarding the operation of non-essential businesses or gatherings 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through an online form or by calling 1-833-789-0470. These complaints are reviewed for completeness, accuracy, and applicability under the orders, and then referred to local authorities (as designated by the county leadership) by a team of investigators from multiple state agencies. In addition to assessing the credibility of complaints, these skilled investigators can assist local authorities in their front-line role of responding to alleged violations of the orders by providing guidance on available civil and criminal enforcement tools.
