Parks & RecreationVillage Playgrounds To Re-Open Following Governor Cuomo's Announcement

Following yesterday’s (Thursday, June 11) announcement allowing localities to open playgrounds at their discretion while following state guidance, the Village of Mamaroneck’s Parks and Recreation Department is actively working on and developing a plan to re-open the Village’s playgrounds. “Making sure we have safety protocols in place before we open any Village playground is our top priority,” remarked Recreation Supervisor Jason Pinto. Residents should stay tuned to the Village’s Parks & Recreation webpage as well as the Village’s Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) webpage for any announcements.

Rye Neck High School Class of 2020 Car ParadeThe Village of Mamaroneck Police Department will provide a police escort on Tuesday, June 16, for Rye Neck High School's Graduating Class of 2020 Car Parade. The parade will depart Harbor Island Park at approximately 10:30am, drive east on East Boston Post Road then finish at the Rye Neck Middle School/High School Campus. Residents are encouraged to come outside their homes or spread out along the route to cheer and congratulate the seniors as they drive between Harbor Island Park and Rye Neck High School. Please remember to follow social distancing (approximately 6 feet or 2 meters), wear masks or face coverings and avoid congregating in any single location.

While streets and roads for these parades will remain open to all vehicle traffic, congestion and noise should be expected. All parking meters throughout the Village will remain in effect.  For more information, click here.

Village Prepares for 2020 Mosquito Season

MosquitoWith the warmer weather approaching, the Village of Mamaroneck is actively monitoring for mosquito activity as part of our Village’s mosquito control program. Since last year, the Village has been using Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis (Bti), a naturally occurring bacterium found in soils, in order to treat the Village’s catch basins and the marshes in the Shore Acres neighborhood*. Bti is an effective tool that reduces the mosquito population while minimizing the amount of pesticide materials being sprayed or “fogged” into the air. For more information to learn (1) What the Village is doing, (2) What residents can do, and what to do (3) If you must spray pesticidesclick here.

Please note that Village Hall at the Regatta (123 Mamaroneck Avenue) is CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. If you need to schedule an appointment with someone at Village Hall, please call the corresponding department. Click here for more information.

Village's 2020 Census Response Rate Is Within 4.4% Points
of Breaking 2010's Response Rate!

Westchester Joint Water Works LogoOur Village's 2020 Census Response Rate is at 66%! We are 4.4% points away from breaking our old 2010 Census Response Rate of 70.4%! The Village needs your help to get the word out about Census 2020! You can inspire others. Tell your neighbors that you completed the census, and that they should respond now, too! Visit 2020census.gov/en/how-to-help.html to find ways to help spread the word!

Our thanks to Westchester Joint Water Works (WJWW) for their help in getting the word out about Census 2020! WJWW will include this flyer (in both English AND Spanish) in the bills residents will receive in mid-June.

Census takers will begin visiting households who have not responded on August 11th and the Village hopes to hit (or even better exceed) 70.4% by then. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s safer for the Census takers if they have fewer doors to knock on. So please help us help them by completing the 2020 Census online, by phone or by mail. To complete the Census Questionnaire online, please visit My2020Census.gov.
