Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for June 18, 2020

MAMARONECK, New York, June 18, 2020 — We offer the following announcements for today, Thursday, June 18.

Village Playgrounds ARE OPEN!

Following Governor Cuomo’s June 11th announcement allowing local municipalities to re-open playgrounds at their discretion, the Village of Mamaroneck’s Parks and Recreation Department re-opened all Village playgrounds earlier today, Thursday, June 18. Residents and playground visitors of all ages should note the following guidelines:

  1. All playground visitors, including children, must maintain social distancing (approximately 6 feet or 2 meters) protocols unless they are members of the same household.
  2. If within 6 feet of another individual, all playground visitors (who are over the age of two and can medically tolerate it) need to cover their noses AND mouths with a mask or cloth face-covering. Face masks or face-coverings MUST cover BOTH the nose and mouth to be effective! Please note this image for the correct way to wear a face mask.
  3. The maximum number of people in a playground at any time is 10. (Please note the “Monitoring/Enforcement” section at the bottom of this webpage.)

Permit Parking

The current COVID-19 pandemic requires constant improvising and adjustment. We ask for your patience as the Village tries to adapt to these ever-changing situations. While Village Hall at the Regatta (123 Mamaroneck Avenue) is closed to the public until further notice, the Village is diligently working to make it possible for residents (and non-residents) to purchase all types of parking permits, licenses and more by using “RecDesk” — the Parks and Recreation Department’s third-party online recreation management software program. (In the past, such permits, licenses, etc. could be purchased either in-person at Village Hall or through the mail.) At this time, we are happy to announce that our parking permits can be purchased entirely online through this system. To do so, please visit vomrec.recdesk.com/Community/Membership.

Please note that when a resident creates a new on-line account in RecDesk, the account must be approved before the resident can continue. This is a one-time process. Account approvals will be done as quickly as possible.

All online permit purchases will be mailed within three to five business day. In the days and weeks ahead, we hope to add more permits, licenses and other items (i.e. Food Scrap Pail and compostable bags!) to this list. Thank you.

Please note that Village Hall at the Regatta (123 Mamaroneck Avenue) is CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. If you need to schedule an appointment with someone at Village Hall, please call the corresponding department. Click here for more information.

Village's 2020 Census Response Rate Is Within 4.1% Points
of Breaking 2010's Response Rate!

Westchester Joint Water Works LogoOur Village's 2020 Census Response Rate is at 66.3%! We are 4.1% points away from breaking our old 2010 Census Response Rate of 70.4%! The Village needs your help to get the word out about Census 2020! You can inspire others. Tell your neighbors that you completed the census, and that they should respond now, too! Visit 2020census.gov/en/how-to-help.html to find ways to help spread the word!

Our thanks to Westchester Joint Water Works (WJWW) for their help in getting the word out about Census 2020! WJWW will include this flyer (in both English AND Spanish) in the bills residents will receive in mid-June.

Census takers will begin visiting households who have not responded on August 11th and the Village hopes to hit (or even better exceed) 70.4% by then. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s safer for the Census takers if they have fewer doors to knock on. So please help us help them by completing the 2020 Census online, by phone or by mail. To complete the Census Questionnaire online, please visit My2020Census.gov.
