Emergency Announcements as of September 11, 2021, at 1:00PM:

Yesterday, Friday, September 10, Village of Mamaroneck Mayor Tom Murphy held a press conference to inform residents on the response efforts from the Village, County, State, and Federal governments as well as the progress made thus far in our community.

Electricity. Approximately 300 residences were without power because of last Wednesday’s storm. With the help of ConEdison and the Village’s Building Department, a system was developed to identify and RED TAG these residences to ensure electrical service would be restored in a safe manner. A little over half of these residences were inspected by private, licensed electricians, their certification letters were delivered to ConEd and the Village’s Building Department, and power has been restored to these residences. The remaining residences that are still without power are in the process of being inspected by private, licensed electricians, who are able to make any and all necessary repairs before signing off on certification letters. Certification letters can be dropped off at Village Hall at the Regatta at 123 Mamaroneck Avenue between 9am and 5pm, today, Saturday, September 11, and tomorrow, Sunday, September 12. The Village has waived the usual permit fee to expedite this process and has extended the certification process until Monday, September 20. The Village’s Building Department can be reached at (914) 777-7731 and the ConEd number at Village Hall is (914) 825-8793.

The Recovery Center at the Village Courthouse at 169 Mt. Pleasant Avenue is open, everyday, from 9am to 5pm and will remain the Recovery Center until further notice. Over 550 households have visited the Recovery Center and as of 12:30 today, 350 of them have met with officials. If you visit 169 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, we suggest you bring your ID. At this location:

The following announcements, while important, are repeat announcements.

Debris Piles and Sanitation. Village DPW crews continue to pick up debris piles. Collection of debris piles began last Friday, September 3rd. These piles continue to get smaller and smaller. Our thanks to neighboring communities, the County and State for their help in this process. At the same time, village sanitation crews are also collecting regular household garbage and will continue their regular garbage and recycling pickup schedules. The Food Scrap Recycling Program at 313 Fayette Avenue is suspended until further notice. For your safety and the safety of our DPW crews, please stay away from 313 Fayette Avenue. Trucks and equipment are going through this facility on a constant basis. If you have a vehicle parked along the street in front of a debris pile, please move your vehicle so that our trucks and crews can tackle these debris piles. The Village Manager has extended FREE parking in all Village Parking lots until next Tuesday, September 14.

Disabled Vehicles on Village Streets. If you have a disabled vehicle parked along Village streets, it will need to be moved by Tuesday, September 14 – otherwise it will be towed at your expense. Approximately 256 cars were identified with orange placards on Village Streets. If your car is disabled on a village street or has an orange placard, it will need to be moved by Tuesday, September 14 – otherwise it will be towed at your expense.

Bottled Water is available at the parking lot adjacent to the Marine Education Center in Harbor Island Park, from 9am to 5pm, every day or until supplies last.

The Village’s Parks and Recreation Department has canceled all recreation programs, events, and field user permits until September 30, 2021. Warren Park, Ward Park, Stanley Park, and Jefferson Park are closed and locked until September 30th. Florence Park, Columbus Park and Harbor Island Park (except the beach) are open to the public for limited use. This weekend’s Family Camp Out and Kiwanis Car Show are also cancelled.

TODAY, Saturday, September 11, at 5pm, the Town of Mamaroneck will host its Tri-Municipal September 11th Memorial Ceremony at Memorial Park on Myrtle Boulevard. Participants will include members of our local Fire and Police Departments, Emergency Medical Services, local Scout troops, veterans, clergy and public officials.  You can also watch the ceremony live on LMC Media on Optimum Channel 75 or Verizon Channel 36 beginning at 5pm.
