EMERGENCY ANNOUNCEMENTS

As of September 7, 2021, at 2:00PM, the Village of Mamaroneck has the following announcements.

• Flood Information Boards have been posted in flood affected areas with this information.
• 169 Mt. Pleasant Avenue. The Village Courthouse at 169 Mt. Pleasant Avenue is open until 5pm today, September 7. Representatives from the Red Cross are available at 169 Mt. Pleasant Avenue to meet with residents. Based on damage assessment, these representatives can issue financial assistance. They are also handing out Flood Clean Up Kits and can refer residents to additional resources. Please bring your ID. In addition, New York Project Hope has bi-lingual crisis counselors there who are available to meet with residents impacted by Ida. They will be there until 5pm today, Tuesday, September 7, and will be there every day this week, from 9am to 5pm. If you or someone you know is struggling from this disaster, you can also contact the Disaster Distress Helpline. Call or text: 1-800-985-5990. Representatives from the Westchester County Department of Social Services (DSS) are also at 169 Mt. Pleasant Avenue. Residents who need housing assistance can meet with these bi-lingual representatives. If you have a housing emergency, call DSS (914) 995-2099. A representative from the New York State Department of Financial Services continues to provide residents and business owners impacted by the storm with insurance information regarding policy coverage for losses and suggestions on how to document losses.
• FEMA. Representatives of FEMA are also now meeting with residents at 169 Mt. Pleasant Avenue. At this time, we encourage residents to visit DisasterAssistance.gov, call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or download the FEMA APP on your smartphone. Computers have been set up at the Courthouse at 169 Mt. Pleasant Avenue to assist residents with applying for disaster aid. The Mamaroneck Public Library, adjacent to the Courthouse, also has computers available for residents to complete FEMA applications.
• 500 cases of water are now available at the parking lot adjacent to the Marine Education Center in Harbor Island Par. Water is available, from 9am to 5pm, every day or until supplies last.
• The Larchmont Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force is handing out pizzas and prepared food from 4pm to 6pm today, Tuesday, September 7 to families displaced by the flood or who are without cooking facilities at their Jefferson Avenue Parking Lot Tent next to Columbus Park. You can also visit feedingwestchester.org to find pantries or additional food assistance.
•  The Shelter at Mamaroneck High School has been exteded to Thursday, September 9. Volunteers are on site to aid residents. Showers are available at the shelter, if you need them.
• Small Businesses. Small businesses recovering from Ida damage may also qualify for disaster loan assistance from the Small Business Administration. For more information, call 1-800-659-2955.
• Debris Piles. Yesterday, our Department of Public Works (DPW) crews picked up three months’ worth of debris in one day. Today, sanitation crews are collecting regular household garbage and will continue their regular garbage and recycling pickup schedules while tackling the large DEBRIS PILES. Debris Pile Teams with a claw, 30-yard dumpsters, 12-yard dump trucks, and ground personnel are coming through flood affected areas on a daily schedule. We have the ability to use heavy duty machinery to clear debris piles quickly. If you have a vehicle parked along the street, please move your vehicle so that our trucks, equipment, and crews can pick up debris piles. The Village Manager has extended FREE parking in all Village Parking lots until next Tuesday, September 14. Please keep your regular garbage separate from the DEBRIS PILES.
• Disabled Vehicles on Village Streets. If you have a disabled vehicle parked along Village streets, it will need to be moved by Tuesday, September 14 – otherwise it will be towed at your expense.
• Electricity:  ConEd and our Buildings Department continue to address RED TAGGED buildings. Remember, only Licensed Private Electricians can assess and perform the necessary electrical work before submitting the certification letter. Completed certification letters can be dropped off at the Village’s Emergency Operations Center at 146 Palmer Avenue. (UPDATE as of 09/08/2021 at 9:00am: Licensed electricians can now drop off certification letters at Village Hall at the Regatta at 123 Mamaroneck Avenue. Please do not bring certification letters to the Emergency Operations Center at 146 Palmer Avenue.) 
• The Village’s Parks and Recreation Department has made the difficult decision to cancel all recreation programs, events, and field user permits until September 30, 2021. Warren Park, Ward Park, Stanley Park, and Jefferson Park are closed and locked until September 30th. Florence Park, Columbus Park and Harbor Island Park (except the beach) is open to the public for limited use. The Family Camp Out and Kiwanis Car Show are also cancelled.
