Long Overdue Infrastructure Work
As Covid is finally loosening it grim grip on our community, many of us are chomping at the bit to get out and enjoy life. Today, June 24, Gov. Cuomo is lifting Disaster Emergency regulations in New York State. That is long overdue and hopeful news.
This summer Mamaroneck is slated to finally get long overdue infrastructure work done, specifically bridge replacements, that will serve our community well for decades to come. That is welcome news.
Unfortunately, these projects will be creating traffic bottlenecks that are unavoidable. We hope to get the word out early so folks can plan accordingly. Some of us have bought bikes over the years with the resolution to get healthy and help the environment by using our cars less. This summer would be an excellent time to fulfill that laudable goal.
Rest assured that our Police Department and Department of Public Works (DPW) will be working with the involved agencies during these projects to maintain safety and facilitate the flow of traffic in our community. Below is the list of projects and areas to avoid if possible.

- Old White Plains Bridge over Interstate 95

There will likely also be detours set up as necessary as a result for the Sewer Rehab (I&I) project. County paving on Mamaroneck Ave will finally start the first or second week of August.
Thank you all for all you have done for Mamaroneck during some of our darkest days. Your perseverance and kindness has been a inspiration. We looked out for each other in the darkness. Let us move forward together into the light.
Please get vaccinated when you can, this is a responsibility that should be borne by us all to protect everyone. If you have “vaccine hesitancy,” please consult your doctor or another health professional who you trust.
Respectfully,
Tom Murphy
Mayor, Village of Mamaroneck
