Announcements
Garbage Collection During the COVID-19 Pandemic
For the safety and welfare of our sanitation crews during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) public health pandemic, beginning next Monday, March 23, RESIDENTIAL garbage collection in the Village of Mamaroneck will be CURBSIDE PICKUP ONLY and will continue until further notice.
For residents who are unable to carry their garbage to the curb (i.e. the elderly or the infirmed), we kindly request that you first seek assistance from a neighbor (safely and while maintaining "social distancing" protocols). These are challenging times for all of us — including our Village’s sanitation workers — and the entire Village of Mamaroneck will get through this public health pandemic most effectively by working together and looking out for each other – especially when it comes to this important public health/sanitation task. Our priority, as always, is the health and safety of our residents as well as our employees.
HOWEVER, if asking a neighbor for assistance is impossible, a provision will be made for those residents who are unable to carry their garbage to the curb. To do so, please contact the Village of Mamaroneck’s Department of Public Works (914-777-7746) and provide your:
- Name
- Address
- Telephone Number
- The days your garbage is picked up (Monday/Thursday OR Tuesday/Friday)
- Please note that you will be asked to submit a doctor’s note stating your need for this provision.
As this policy will not go into effect until next Monday, March 23, we encourage you to take the time now to contact your doctor and request this note. (If you have already done this, there is no need to do it again.)
Please note that this new policy will not go into effect until next Monday, March 23, normal garbage collection will continue tomorrow, Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20 . This policy only applies to RESIDENTIAL garbage collection. Non-residential garbage collection (i.e. commercial/business) should contact their private commercial garbage removal company.
