Village of Mamaroneck Volunteer Fire Department Receives 2022 Best of Westchester® Reader’s Choice Awards for “Best Annual Festival” & “Best Local Parade”
June 21, 2022 (Mamaroneck, NY) — The Village of Mamaroneck is delighted to announce that the Village of Mamaroneck Volunteer Fire Department received two Reader’s Choice awards in Westchester Magazine’s 2022 Best of Westchester® issue: one for “Best Annual Festival” for its Annual Firemen's Carnival and one for “Best Local Parade” for its Firemen’s Parade.
The Annual Firemen’s Carnival is a fundraiser that is organized and sponsored by the Village of Mamaroneck Volunteer Fire Department. This year, the Carnival runs from Friday, June 24, through Tuesday, July 5 and will take place each evening, between 6:45pm and 11:30pm in Harbor Island Park. The Firemen’s Parade is scheduled to kick off at 7:00pm on Wednesday, June 29, and will travel down Mamaroneck Avenue to Harbor Island Park. "In addition to fighting fires in our municipality, our volunteer fire fighters respond to hurricanes and other large scale natural disasters – such as last September’s flooding from the remnants of Hurricane Ida that devastated the Village of Mamaroneck. Attending Fire Department events like the Firemen’s Carnival, Parade, and Fireworks Display is a great way to show support and thanks for the work our Volunteer Fire Department performs in the community."
For over 130 years, the all-volunteer Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department has provided the residents of the Village of Mamaroneck with fire protection. The Fire Department responds to approximately 800 fire emergencies a year and provides professional services that are crucial to the safety, health, and welfare of the community. This is accomplished through fire suppression, fire prevention, public education, and other activities. The Department operates out of four (4) fire stations with over 200 volunteers. In addition, they operate five Engines, two Aerial Trucks, two Utility Trucks, three Chief’s Vehicles, and one Fire Boat. Each year, the Best of Westchester® awards recognize the best of everything in Westchester County.
