Village of Mamaroneck's Harbor Island Park Receives 2022 Best of Westchester® Reader's Choice Award
June 20, 2022 (Mamaroneck, NY) — The Village of Mamaroneck is delighted to announce that Harbor Island Park was voted a Reader’s Choice winner for "Best Public Park" in Westchester Magazine’s 2022 Best of Westchester® issue.
"On behalf of all my colleagues in the Parks and Recreation Departments, as well as the Harbor Master, and Marine Education Center, I want to express my sincere thanks to the readers of Westchester Magazine for this award," said Jason Pinto, Recreation Supervisor of the Village of Mamaroneck’s Recreation Department. "We are proud of all the work we do at Harbor Island Park. It is a privilege to work with the best colleagues as well as for the loving and supportive families of the Mamaroneck community."
The 44.5-acre Harbor Island Park overlooks one of the loveliest harbors in the Long Island Sound. Its sweeping vistas and close proximity to Mamaroneck Village’s shopping district make the park a vital resource. The park is home to numerous sports fields, playgrounds, the 700-foot Stephen E. Johnston Beach, a spray ground, the Walter F. Rogers Recreation Pavilion, a boat launching ramp, numerous docks, fishing floats, the Sportime Harbor Island Tennis facility, picnic tables, benches, and swing benches. It is also home to the Marine Education Center, a FREE hands-on marine educational facility that promotes the knowledge, conservation, and stewardship of the local Long Island Sound ecosystem. Throughout the year, Harbor Island Park hosts numerous concerts and special events. This summer, residents and visitors will enjoy Outdoor Movie Nights (on 06/11, 07/15, 08/06, and 09/10), the Firemen’s Carnival (06/24 to 07/05), the 48th Annual Blessing of the Fleet (07/04), the Fireworks Display (07/04), the “Tiki Invasion” (on 07/15) — Mamaroneck’s biggest summer beach party, Concerts in the Park (07/20 and 08/17), a Kayak Summer Camp, Habor Kayak Tours, Stand-Up Paddle Boarding activities, and so much more!
