COVID-19 Announcements

COVID-19 Vaccinations are by appointment only and New Yorkers can determine eligibility and find a New York State-operated vaccination location to receive their first dose through the State's "Am I Eligible" app or call the New York State Vaccination Hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829). You can schedule an appointment to receive the required second dose on site after receiving the first dose. You should not attempt to book your second appointment online.

Additionally, you can sign up for the Westchester County Department of Health Alert System, by clicking here. Eligible residents will be alerted when additional vaccines become available. To be clear, this system will not sign you up for an appointment. This will only sign you up to be alerted when there are additional appointments available.  A list of all non-state-run vaccine providers in Westchester County is available here.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is working to provide COVID-19 vaccines to Veterans as quickly and safely as they can, based on CDC guidelines and available supply. Veterans are encouraged to sign up to stay informed about when they can get a COVID-19 vaccine at VA. Click here to learn more.

You can track the State's vaccination progress through the NYS COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker. The dashboard provides updates on the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine including the number of doses received by the state, a breakdown of first and second doses, and the number of people who have received first and second doses in each region.

New York State is encouraging eligible New Yorkers to train to become vaccinators. If you are a licensed practical nurse, a dentist, an EMT, a medical or nursing student with at least a year of clinical experience, and more — then you may be eligible to take training to become a vaccinator and help New York administer COVID vaccines over the coming months. Westchester County has developed a Public Service Announcement (in English and in Espanol/Spanish) regarding vaccine scams. Beware of COVID vaccine fraud. To help root out vaccination fraud or scams across the State, New York established a hotline that New Yorkers can call to report suspected fraud. It is a red flag if anyone is promising you the vaccine in exchange for payment. To make a report, call 1-833-VAX-SCAM (1-833-829-7226) or email STOPVAXFRAUD@health.ny.gov.

While the vaccination process is underway, all New Yorkers should continue to wear masks, practice social distancing and avoid small and large gatherings.

Wash hands often. | Stay away from small and large gatherings.

Village Hosts Pop-Up COVID-19 Diagnostic Test Site at Johnston Beach Pavilion in Harbor Island Park

The Village of Mamaroneck hosted a special, one-day only Pop-Up COVID-19 Diagnostic Testing Site yesterday, Thursday, February 25th. The site, which was located at the Stephen E. Johnston Beach Pavilion in Harbor Island Park, was operated by the COVID-19 Operations of Westchester Medical Center. To learn more, click here.

Westchester County Hosts COVID Commemoration One Year Later - Wednesday, March 3

Westchester County will conduct a ceremony in recognition of those lost over the last year of COVID-19. This commemoration will occur on Wednesday, March 3rd, beginning at 11:00am. Click here for more information.

Fats, Oils, and Grease (F.O.G.) --- What Not to Put Down Your Drain!

You can help prevent blocked sewer lines, clogged equipment and sewage pump stations, and polluted water in Mamaroneck Harbor if you're careful about what you pour down the sink or flush in the toilet. Substances that should NEVER be poured down the drain or flushed include FATS, OILS, and GREASE (FOGs). They solidfy in pies and create a hard blockage. Much of the daily maintenance in the village sanitary sewer pipes is required because of solidified FOGs. To dispose of FOGs properly, collect them in any sealable jar (liked a used sauce jar) and dispose of it with your regular garbage.

Or better yet --- Small amounts of cooking oil can be soaked into a paper towel and placed in your compost when you recycle your food scraps!

How not to dispose of fats, oils and grease:

• Don’t use hot water or detergents to rinse grease off of cookware, utensils, dishes or surfaces. These products only move the grease further down the line where they can cause problems in the sewer system.
• Don’t pour fats, oils and grease down your garbage disposal unit. Garbage disposal units may break down food materials into smaller pieces, but they don’t prevent fats, oils and grease from going down the drain.
• Don’t pour fats, oils and grease down the toilet. Protect the sewer lines in the bathroom: the toilet is not a trash can.

Updated Village Hours for the Public

The current COVID-19 pandemic requires constant improvising and adjustment. We ask for your patience as the Village tries to adapt to these ever changing situations.

• Village Hall at the Regatta at 123 Mamaroneck Avenue is CLOSED on Mondays. Staff at Village Hall are available Tuesdays through Fridays, between 9am and 5pm.
• The Village's Justice Court at 169 Mt. Pleasant Avenue is open Mondays to Fridays, between 9am and 5pm on the first floor for court business. The first-floor window is open between 10am and 1pm to collect fines.

When not physically in the building, office employees work remotely and are available by phone and email. For a list of Village departments and their phone numbers, click here. Residents can also drop-off documents in the dropboxes outside these buildings. These mailboxes are checked workdays, between 9:00am and 5:00pm.

Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) Instructor + Kayaking Instructor

Also the Parks & Recreation Department is looking for a certified Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) Instructor to work part-time during camp, 2-3 days for 6 weeks and to instruct weekend SUP classes for ages 14 and up from June until August/September. Hours and days are flexible. The Village is also looking for a Kayaking Instructor to work part-time on weekends from June until August/September for ages 9 and up. The snow is melting and the Village of Mamaroneck's Parks & Recreation Department is delighted to announce the Spring/Summer Adult Softball Program! Registration is Now Open! Committee for the Environment

Due to the forecast of rain for tomorrow, Saturday, February 27, the Information Table selling Food Waste Recycling Kits has been CANCELED.

Get your Food Waste Recycling Kit at the Mamaroneck Farmers Market, NEXT Saturday, March 6th, between 9am and 1:00pm (or until supplies last) in Harbor Island Park. Members of the Committee for the Environment and other volunteers will be selling Food Waste Recycling Kits for $20 (one 2-gallon countertop pail and a larger 6-gallon carry tote and 25 compostable bag liners for the pail). Also, residents can purchase rolls of liners ($2.00 for one roll of 25 compostable bags). Food waste recycling reduces waste, creates compost, and takes some foods that cannot be added to a backyard compost pile. If you would like to volunteer selling Food Waste Recycling Kits at the Mamaroneck Farmers Market, sign up here.
