COVID-19 Announcements

 Get the Facts PNG

All New Yorkers age 16+ are now eligible to schedule and receive the vaccines.

COVID-19 Vaccinations are by appointment only and New Yorkers can determine eligibility and find a New York State-operated vaccination location to receive the vaccine through the State's "Am I Eligible" app or call the New York State Vaccination Hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829).

Additionally, you can sign up for the Westchester County Department of Health Alert System, by clicking here. Eligible residents will be alerted when additional vaccines become available. To be clear, this system will not sign you up for an appointment. This will only sign you up to be alerted when there are additional appointments available.  A list of all non-state-run vaccine providers in Westchester County is available here. Westchester County's paratransit system will provide free transportation to all seniors and disabled constituents who need a ride to their vaccination appointment. All reservations must be made at least 24-hours in advance, in order to allow time for scheduling. To make a reservation, call (914) 995-7272

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is working to provide COVID-19 vaccines to Veterans as quickly and safely as they can, based on CDC guidelines and available supply. Veterans are encouraged to sign up to stay informed about when they can get a COVID-19 vaccine at VA. Click here to learn more.

Legislation has been signed granting employees time off to receive COVID-19 Vaccination: Public and private employees are granted time off to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Employees have up to four hours of excused leave per injection that will not be charged against any other leave the employee has earned or accrued. Click here for more information.

You can track the State's vaccination progress through the NYS COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker. The dashboard provides updates on the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine including the number of doses received by the state, a breakdown of first and second doses, and the number of people who have received first and second doses in each region.

NEW: FEMA has announced that it will provide financial assistance for COVID-19 related funeral expenses. To be eligible, applicants must meet these conditions: (1) The death must have occurred in the United States. (2) The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien, (3) The death certificate must indicate that the death was attributed to COVID-19. There is no requirement for the deceased person to have been a U.S. Citizen, non-citizen national or qualified alien. Applications can be submitted by calling (844) 684-6333 between 9:00am - 9:00pm from Monday to Friday. Multilingual services will be available to all callers. Additional information is available here.

NEW:  Westchester County’s Office of Economic Development is soliciting information from local Westchester businesses regarding their experiences throughout the pandemic. We encourage local businesses and community leaders to complete this survey from the Westchester County Office of Economic Development to ensure they understand the demands of local businesses throughout the County.

NEW:  Become a New York State Citizen Public Health Leader. To continue the fight against COVID and prepare for the next public health emergency, the State launched the free, online Citizen Public Health Training course for New Yorkers, in partnership with Cornell University and supported by the State University of New York. This program will prepare and equip New Yorkers to become Citizen Public Health Leaders and build an informed network across the state. Enroll for free today.

Westchester County has developed a Public Service Announcement (in English and in Espanol/Spanish) regarding vaccine scams. Beware of COVID vaccine fraud. To help root out vaccination fraud or scams across the State, New York established a hotline that New Yorkers can call to report suspected fraud. It is a red flag if anyone is promising you the vaccine in exchange for payment. To make a report, call 1-833-VAX-SCAM (1-833-829-7226) or email STOPVAXFRAUD@health.ny.gov.

Getting tested for COVID regularly is an excellent way to ensure your health and the health of those around you. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID or believe you may have been exposed to the virus, get tested. Find a testing site near you. You can also call 1-888-364-3065 to make a free appointment at a New York State-run testing location.

While the vaccination process is underway, all New Yorkers should continue to wear masks and practice social distancing.

Please wear a mask. | Follow social distancing protocols (approximately 6 feet or 2 meters).
Wash hands often. Stay away from small and large gatherings.

Police Department's 2021 "No Empty Chair" Teen Driving Safety Campaign

No Empty Chair Graphic PNG

Each year thousands of high school students across New York State look forward to attending their prom and graduation ceremony. These memorable moments for parents, siblings, educators, and the community become meaningless when a teen dies in a car crash. Regrettably, this scenario happens all too often, and law enforcement is tasked with making the difficult “knock on the door”. To reduce these tragedies the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) developed the “No Empty Chair” (NEC) campaign symbolizing a missing high school student for the prom or on graduation day. During this five-day initiative (April 19 -April 23) The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department will assign patrols to focus on a different traffic safety threat each day of the week. This is also an opportunity to increase awareness about safe teen driving. Resources to educate and inform drivers ages 16-20 are available by clicking here.
