Village of Mamaroneck News & Events

Post Ida Announcements

Electricity

Approximately 380 addresses in the Village of Mamaroneck lost power as a result of the September 2nd storm. With the help of ConEdison and the Village’s Building Department, a system was developed to identify and RED TAG these residences to ensure that electrical service was restored in a safe and effective manner. As of September 16, roughly 71%, or 270 addresses, were inspected by private, licensed electricians, their certification letters were delivered to ConEd and the Village’s Building Department, and electricity was restored. Beginning on September 15, Village officials have been handing out this English and Spanish flyer, door-to-door, to approximately 110 addresses to make sure everyone is aware of this process. ConEdison is also distributing this flyer (in ENGLISH and SPANISH) to make sure residents know their roles to have electric service restored.

Immediately after Ida’s arrival in the early morning hours of Thursday, September 2nd, the Village announced that it would waive the usual permit fee to expedite this process and would extend the certification process until 5:00pm on Monday, September 20th. So that certification letters can continue to be delivered, the Village's Building Department will be staffed (and will share certification letter with ConEd) this entire weekend at Village Hall at the Regatta at 123 Mamaroneck Avenue between 8am and 5pm, on Saturday, September 18, on Sunday, September 19, and will open at 8:00am on Monday, September 20.

Please note that beginning at 8:00am on Tuesday, September 21, the regular requirements for filing a Building, Electrical, and Plumbing Permit as well as the accompanying permit fees will resume. The Village's Building Department permit application as well as fee schedule can be found by clicking here: For more infomraiton, please contact the Village's Building Department at (914) 777-7731.

Debris Piles and Sanitation

The collection of debris piles began on Friday, September 3. As debris piles get smaller and smaller, the Village will be assessing its collection process. We expect to announce that (1) the Village’s DPW will stop collecting debris piles and that (2) the collection and disposal of any remaining construction debris, building materials, or demolition materials will be the responsibility of the property owner.

The Food Scrap Recycling Program at 313 Fayette Avenue is suspended until further notice. For your safety and the safety of our DPW crews, please stay away from 313 Fayette Avenue. Trucks and equipment are going through this facility on a constant basis.

If you have questions, contact the Village's Department of Public Works at (914) 777-7745.

Disabled Vehicles on Village Streets

Volunteering and Donated Items

The Coalition for Community – a local group of nonprofits, social service agencies and houses of worship – have been working together to coordinate volunteer operations and donations. Their work is instrumental in ensuring that we are efficient and serve as many people as possible. Again, your help is most effective when coordinated through the Coalition for Community. Visit the Coalition's Facebook page for volunteer opportunities, how to donate items and more.

Residents can call (914) 995-5800 to speak with medical professionals in English or Spanish to ask questions or get answers to their concerns.
  • Westchester County continues to vaccinate homebound seniors. To schedule a homebound appointment, contact Westchester’s Office of Senior Programs and Services at (914) 813-6300.
  • Find a testing site near you. You can also call 1-888-364-3065 to make a free appointment at a New York State-run testing location.
