Village of Mamaroneck News & Events

Dear Friends,

A Mamaroneck resident made this video that documents a portion of the destruction that took place in his neighborhood of Washingtonville. It is a stark reminder of the pain, suffering and danger that so many of our residents live with on a day to day basis. They deserve better! The flood map in the Village of Mamaroneck very nearly mirrors the low income areas of our community.

We need to look out for each other and fight for our neighbors to get the relief from the Army Corps that they deserve. I want to thank Michael Bianco for sharing this video and documenting the anguish of our friends in Washingtonville. Please watch the video

Underwater Again

After watching the video, take a tangible action by signing the petition to our Federal and State representatives advocating for Mamaroneck to get the help we need to be a viable community in the future.

Respectfully,
Tom Murphy
Mayor, Village of Mamaroneck

Operation of Leaf Blowers Permitted Until May 14th

Autumn Leaves

Beginning Friday, October 1st, Leaf Blowers are allowed in the Village of Mamaroneck. The operation of leaf blowers, as per the Village of Mamaroneck's Leaf Blower Law, is permitted between October 1st and May 14th.

Please remember that leaves, clippings, brush, and other small branches should be contained in a biodegradable brown paper bag or open garbage can (with drain holes at the bottom) and placed at the curb. PLEASE DO NOT PILE LEAVES OR GRASS AT THE CURB.

Love the autumn but dread the annual leaf cleanup? This fall season, try something different. Instead of spending untold hours (or dollars) blowing, raking, or dragging leaves, try mulching-in-place. The Village of Mamaroneck is one of over 22 proud municipalities of the Love 'Em and Leave 'Em initiative. Learn how to reduce organic yard waste from your property by visiting www.leleny.org.

9PM Routine Check

9PM Routine

The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department would like to request from our residents to please do a nightly "9PM Routine Check" of their vehicles: please do not leave a vehicle unlocked and with the keys inside, please do not leave money or anything of value left overnight inside a vehicle. Unfortunately, we have recently seen an increase of cases of numerous items being stolen from vehicles left unlocked overnight.

Please Complete this Public Survey and Help Update the Westchester County Hazard Mitigation Plan

Westchester County Hazard Mitigation Plan PNG

The Village is currently participating in the update of the Westchester County Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) for the County and its jurisdictions. As sections of the plan are available for public review, we encourage residents to explore them - especially as they pertain to our Village.

In order to identify and plan for future natural disasters, the Village and Westchester County need assistance from residents and businesses. This questionnaire is designed to help gauge the level of knowledge about natural disaster issues. The questionnaire also asks for information, thoughts, and opinions you may have about areas vulnerable to any type of natural disaster. The information you provide will help identify and coordinate activities to reduce the risk of injury or property damage in the future.  Click here to take the public survey and help update the Westchester County Hazard Mitigation Plan and for more information about the Westchester County Hazard Mitigation Plan, visit www.westchesterhmp.com.

    COVID-19 Announcements

All New Yorkers age 12+ are now eligible to schedule and receive the vaccine. Visit vaccinefinder.org to find a COVID-19 vaccine site near you!

    • Any unvaccinated individuals should continue to wear proper face masks or coverings, as per the CDC Guidance. For vaccinated individuals, masks should be worn indoors in public areas if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission. Given these factors, the mask mandate has been re-established for several public buildings.
    • The Westchester County Department of Health has set up a phone line for residents to speak one-on-one with nurses and doctors about the COVID-19 vaccines. Residents can call (914) 995-5800 to speak with medical professionals in English or Spanish to ask questions or get answers to their concerns.
    • Westchester County continues to vaccinate homebound seniors. To schedule a homebound appointment, contact Westchester’s Office of Senior Programs and Services at (914) 813-6300.
    • Find a testing site near you. You can also call 1-888-364-3065 to make a free appointment at a New York State-run testing location.

Find guidance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for fully vaccinated people. If you are not vaccinated, find a vaccine.
