Public Education & Outreach

As noted, non-point source pollution is the greatest source of water pollution in the United States. Clear water is everybody's responsibility and there are simple things you can do as a resident to help maintain and improve our water quality.

The first component of the Village's non-point source pollution plan is Public Education & Outreach. This is accomplished through several different methods. Educational materials at Village Hall, the Public Library and the Building Department; Airing of educational material on the LMC-TV, the Marine Education Center, presentations at public meetings as well as other methods.

Simple things like reducing the use of pesticides and herbicides, washing your car at a commercial carwash instead of your driveway so as to prevent oils and greases from washing into our catch basins; curbing your pets, etc.
