Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for March 12, 2020

MAMARONECK, New York, March 12, 2020 — In the words of our Village Mayor, Tom Murphy, “We will get through this coronavirus outbreak by working together and helping the most vulnerable among us. That is who we are as a community, we look out for each other!” Here are today’s update:

  • The Sound Shore St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 22 is POSTPONED. Click here to read the March 12th announcement from the Sound Shore St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee.
  • Internal Lobby Area of Village Hall Is Inaccessible to the Public Until Further Notice
Out of an abundance of caution, the internal lobby area of Village Hall at the Regatta (123 Mamaroneck Avenue) will be inaccessible to the public until further notice. Residents and members of the public seeking to do business at Village Hall may enter the vestibule area of Village Hall and approach the glass window where Village personnel can answer questions and process transactions. Please note that the public computer (which is located inside the internal lobby area) and used to check property taxes and property tax liens is unavailable at this time. Instead, individuals and employees of tax lien service companies should email their requests to clerktreasurer@vomny.org with the following information and a member of the Village's Clerk/Treasurer Office will respond to your request as quickly as possible. Thank you.
    • Subject Line: Outstanding Taxes / Liens
    • A list of properties with the exact addresses that need to be checked for outstanding taxes/liens.
  • From the Village’s Parks & Recreation Department:
    • In order to best serve residents, the Parks & Rec front-office staff has moved temporarily to Village Hall at the Regatta (123 Mamaroneck Avenue). Instead of visiting the Stephen E. Johnston Beach Pavilion in Harbor Island Park, residents should visit Village Hall at the Regatta (123 Mamaroneck Avenue) for all seasonal permits and for all program registration/information.
    • Parents and guardians are encouraged to register their children for the Village’s summer day camp at: app.campdoc.com/register/villageofmamaroneck.
    • The following programs are POSTPONED through the end of March:
      • Free Resident Tennis Clinic at SporTime on Sunday, March 15.
      • Kid’s Cookery on Saturdays
      • Zumba on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
      • Total Body Workout with Joyce on Mondays and Thursdays
    • The weekly Beach Clean-Up program offered on Fridays by the Marine Education Center has been CANCELLED until further notice.
  • Residents who are witnessing price gouging on items like cleaning supplies (i.e. toilet paper or soap) are encouraged to call the New York State Department of Consumer Protection (who will investigate reports of unfair price increases amid the coronavirus outbreak) at 1-800-697-1220.

During this trying time let’s also give extra attention to the senior citizens in our community who might not feel as comfortable going about their normal routines. Let’s check on them and see if they need any help to get through this situation.

The Village of Mamaroneck has put together a Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) webpage with information for residents that brings together resources from our partners in the community (Mamaroneck School District and Rye Neck School District) as well as from the County, State, and Federal levels of government.
