Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for March 4, 2020

MAMARONECK, New York, March 4, 2020 — Today at approximately 1:00 PM, Westchester County Executive George Latimer and New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo delivered a joint press conference in White Plains regarding the latest information about the coronavirus disease (COVID -19). “Rest assured we will keep our residents informed of any further developments in this ongoing health situation,” says Village of Mamaroneck Mayor Tom Murphy.

In addition, the Village wants to let residents know that the New York State Department of Health has a regularly updated chart on their website of total persons under investigation (PUI) in New York State (Outside of NYC) as well as in New York City. Considering recent events where a Westchester County resident contracted the coronavirus, Village of Mamaroneck officials will continue to monitor these statistics.

At this time, we also want to share the following two fact sheets from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Village of Mamaroneck will provide regular updates through its website to all residents about the coronavirus and will share a tip per day that residents should know and/or do in regards to this disease. Today, How can I help protect myself?

People can help protect themselves from respiratory illness with everyday preventive actions.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.

The Village of Mamaroneck has put together a Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) webpage with information for residents that brings together resources from our partners in the community (Mamaroneck School District and Rye Neck School District) as well as from the County, State, and Federal levels of government.
