Stephen E. Johnston Beach

The Village’s Parks & Recreation Department is happy to announce that starting tomorrow, Saturday, May 30, the beach water at Stephen E. Johnston Beach will be OPEN for swimming between 10:00am and 5:00pm when lifeguards are on duty. (Beach staff will enforce the no swimming rules before 10:00am and after 5:00pm.) Together with our Village police and parks & recreation departments, these lifeguards have received special training on COVID-19 safety precautions as well as regular CPR refresher training. In addition, please note the following:

  • The outdoor shower next to the beach gate is open.

We thank all Village residents for their patience as we continue to adapt to these ever-changing situations. For more information about beach and parking fees, beach operating hours, and all the guidelines for the 2020 Harbor Island Park Beach Season, click here.
