EMERGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT

as of 09/02/2021 at 6:00PM

As of September 2, 2021, at 6:00PM, the Village of Mamaroneck offers the following eight announcements:

  1. The Village has 22 pumps and is procuring additional pumps to assist Village residents to clear out flood waters. Less than 24 hours since the storm hit, we have already pumped out some of the hardest hit homes in our community. At this time, residents near the Mamaroneck and Sheldrake Rivers are being prioritized. You can email your request now to pumpout@vomny.org with your name, address, and contact number. Additionally, after 8:00 am tomorrow, you can call the Village Manager’s Office at (914) 777-7703 so we can include you on our list and review actions you will need to take to make your property safe. Again, whether sending an email or leaving a voicemail message, please leave your name, address, and contact number.
  2. The Village of Mamaroneck has arranged for Flood Kits with the Red Cross for distribution to Village property owners who were severely impacted by flooding. These kits provide industrial grade cleaning supplies and other tools to help remove water and silt and to prevent mold and mildew. If you require assistance to pump out flood waters or need a kit, again, please contact the Village Manager’s Office at (914) 777-7703.
  3. Over the coming days, there will be rolling street closures along the streets in the Washingtonville neighborhood to address trash pickup as well as flood pumping.
  4. Close to 80 vehicles were abandoned along Village streets during the storm. Many of these abandoned cars were towed to Vincent’s Garage at 636 Fenimore Road. If your car was towed, contact Vincent’s at (914) 698-5252.
  5. Except for emergency services, all Village Offices at 123 Mamaroneck Avenue and at 169 Mt. Pleasant Avenue are closed to regular business. Village offices as well as the Village Court are closed until Tuesday, September 7th. All Village Parks are closed today and Friday, September 3.
  6. The Village’s largest park, Harbor Island Park – including the Boat Ramp and the Johnston Beach  – is closed to the public so that Harbor Island Park can serve as a staging area for emergency personnel.
  7. The Department of Public Works will make every effort to pick up garbage tomorrow, Friday, September 3. If your garbage was supposed to be picked up today and it wasn’t, the DPW will make every effort to pick it up your garbage tomorrow. Residents can put out garbage on the curb. Please note that Monday, September 6, is Labor Day. There will be no garbage collection on Monday, September 6.
  8. The shelter at Mamaroneck High School remains open. Red Cross volunteers are on site to aid residents.

We anticipate sending an updated email and phone call announcement tomorrow, Friday, September 3, at 12:00pm. Thank you. Be well and stay safe.
