National Weather Service Issues Coastal Flood Advisory and Gale Warning

A Nor'easter will affect the region tonight, Monday, March 13th through tomorrow night, Tuesday, March 14th, with a period of heavy precipitation, strong winds, and coastal flooding.  A heavy wet snow is also likely across the interior portions of the Lower Hudson Valley tonight into tomorrow, with heavy rain tonight changing to snow along the city and coastal areas tomorrow.

In advance of this weather event, please note the following:

  • The Village Manager has authorized FREE PARKING for Monday, March 13 and Tuesday, March 14, on the Hunter Tier Lot on Prospect Avenue (across from the Village’s Police Station) and the Parking Lot along Phillips Park Road. Residents who normally park their vehicles in the Village’s flood prone areas can move their vehicles to these parking lots.
  • Heavy rain is expected tonight into tomorrow, with rainfall rates of 1-inch in 6 hours and 2-inches in 12 hours. 
  • There will likely be a period of strong, gusty winds with this event. Wind gusts 35 to 45 mph are possible. Please bring inside (or tie down) any items that could be impacted by high winds.

  • Marine impacts are probable with this system with a period of elevated seas and gale-force winds. Minor beach erosion is also possible.
