National Weather Service Issues Flood Watch late tonight, Friday 03/22 into Saturday, 03/23

National Weather Service 2024-03-21 0311 SMALL PNG

The Village of Mamaroneck is closely monitoring an expected rain storm and Flood Watch anticipated to impact our area beginning late tonight, Friday March 22.  Current predictions call for 2-3 inches of rain to in an approximate 12 to 24 hour period. Our observations are that the rivers are currently running at lower than normal levels, and based on our experience with similar rain storms in the past, we anticipate that there may be a potential for minor street flooding in areas in close proximity to the Mamaroneck and Sheldrake Rivers. Barricades are being pre-positioned in the event road closures are necessary.  Catch basins in low-lying areas have also been cleaned as we are also monitoring the reservoir dam.

While the chance of more moderate flooding is low, we encourage residents in flood prone areas to undertake the necessary precautions.
