Pesticide Application Program in Shore Acres Neighborhood

The following message is for our residents in the Shore Acres Neighborhood.

Beginning on Thursday, July 20, the Village of Mamaroneck will need to augment its pesticide application program with a spraying component along selected streets in the Shore Acres neighborhood.

Since March, staff from the Village's Department of Public Works (DPW) have been cleaning Village catch basins of leaves and debris. In our marshlands  — such as Otter Creek Preserve — Bti, a naturally occurring bacterium found in soils, has been applied. And since the first week of June, the Village has been monitoring its marshes and catch basins multiple times per week.

At this time, due to the increase in the adult mosquito population, the Village has determined that it is now necessary to augment the Bti program by spraying an adult mosquito control product.

Weather permitting, pesticide application by truck will take place on Thursday, July 20, from 4:00 am—6:00 am along the following streets:

If a physician suspects that a patient may have pesticide poisoning, you or your physician should contact the New York City Regional Poison Control Center, which serve Westchester County. A confirmed or suspected pesticide poisoning is reportable under the provision of the New York State Sanitary Code. Providers must report such poisonings to the New York State Department of Health Pesticide Poisoning Registry at (800) 322-6850.
