MAMARONECK LIBRARY WILL REMAIN OPEN
by Tom Murphy, Mayor of the Village of Mamaroneck
At our April 17th meeting, the Village of Mamaroneck Board of Trustees voted to approve the Tax Anticipation Notes that will enable the Mamaroneck Library to remain to serve our residents. (Click here to view the video of the 04/17 Work Session.) Library Staff met with Village of Mamaroneck Staff and explained cost savings and cuts that the Library will enact that will begin the process of righting their fiscal ship. They are also in the process of working out strict fiscal guidelines that the Village will review and assist the Library in implementing.
The funding for the Library will be dispersed in three different tranches. The Village will have an opportunity to review the progress that the library is making before each disbursement. There will be a separate vote by the Board of Trustees before each payment is made to the Library.

No Empty Chair Traffic Enforcement Campaign: April 24 to April 28
Each year thousands of high school students across New York State look forward to attending their prom and graduation ceremony. These memorable moments for parents, siblings, educators, and the community become meaningless when a teen dies in a car crash. Regrettably, this scenario happens all too often, and law enforcement is tasked with making the difficult “knock on the door”. To reduce these tragedies the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) developed the “No Empty Chair” (NEC) campaign symbolizing a missing high school student for the prom or on graduation day. During this five-day initiative (April 24 -April 28) The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department will assign patrols to focus on a different traffic safety threat each day of the week. This is also an opportunity to increase awareness about safe teen driving. Click here to read more.
