Santa To Visit Local Parks with Help from the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department - Saturday, December 4

Join the Village of Mamaroneck to celebrate the holidays at the 16th Annual Tree Lighting and the Santa Claus Experience, an exciting and enchanting evening taking place at Harbor Island Park on Saturday, December 11, 2021. The Westchester Chordsmen, a renowned male chorus dedicated to the singing of the finest Barbershop music, will be performing! Come in person to participate in the Village’s holiday Tree Lighting at 6:00pm (live streaming will also be available on LMC Media).

Families registered for the Santa Claus Experience can have their children write a letter to Santa. Completed letters should be dropped off in the mailbox at Village Hall’s main entrance no later than 4:00pm on Thursday, December 9th. The day of the event, participants are encouraged to decorate their car in a festive fashion for their journey through a magical, sparkling drive-through tunnel of lights and holiday characters, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the entrance to Harbor Island Park. Magic awaits children at the end of their holiday light tunnel adventure as they greet Santa on his sleigh who will personally share Seasons Greetings, wish children good tidings and holiday cheer and his elves will present a holiday keepsake ornament. Update on the NYS Department of Transportation’s Route 1 Bridge over the Mamaroneck River

Route 1 Bridge

Beginning Monday, December 6 through Friday, December 10, night work will take place on the Route 1 bridge project in Mamaroneck. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction during the work, which is necessary to complete utility replacement. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Second Half of Village Property Taxes Are Due On or Before Monday, January 3, 2022

The second half of Village Property Taxes are due on or before Monday, January 3, 2022, at 5:00PM. You may pay by mail, in person at 123 Mamaroneck Avenue, or by putting a check with the stub in the supplied envelope in the brown mailbox in front of 123 Mamaroneck Avenue (no stamp required, see photo below). In addition, tax payments that are postmarked by the USPS on January 3, 2022, are also acceptable.

Credit card payments can also be made in-person by Monday, January 3, 2022 at Village Hall. For credit card payments made in-person at Village Hall, please note that there is a 3% charge. If you utilize online bill-pay through your bank, please remember that you MUST include the stub mailed to you.

2022 Sanitation Calendar

The 2022 Sanitation Calendar is here! This one-page overview includes dates when garbage collection is suspended as well as dates for recycling collection, organic waste collection, and loose curbside leaf collection. To request a print copy of the 2022 Sanitation Calendar, please call (914) 777-7703 and we will send you one in the mail. To lookup your garbage/rubbish pick-up schedule online, visit the Sanitation Pickup Schedule webpage or download the Recycle Right Westchester app from the Apple Store or Google Play Store. (You can also lookup the 2021 garbage/rubbish pickup schedule here.)

Please note there WILL BE garbage pickup on Friday, December 31st. This is a change from an earlier version of our 2021 Sanitation Calendar. On Friday, December 31, (New Year’s Eve), normal garbage/rubbish pickup will take place as scheduled.

Application Deadline for FEMA Disaster Assistance IS NOW JANUARY 4, 2022!

Homeowners and renters with uninsured or underinsured damage to their property from Hurricane Ida now have until Tuesday, January 4 to apply for FEMA disaster assistance.

At the Disaster Recovery Center at the Mamaroneck Public Library (136 Prospect Ave., Mamaroneck, NY, 10543), individuals can apply for FEMA disaster assistance, check the status of an application and get information about other resources available. To apply for FEMA assistance, visit in-person a Disaster Recovery Center, go to DisasterAssistance.gov, use the FEMA mobile app or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362.

U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loans are the largest source of federal disaster recovery funds for survivors. These low-interest disaster loans are not just for businesses. Homeowners, renters and certain nonprofits that were affected by Hurricane Ida may apply online for disaster loans using SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloanassistance.sba.gov/ela/s/. Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 or email DisasterCustomerService@sba.gov for more information. Individuals who are deaf or hard‑of‑hearing may call 800-877-8339.


2022 Westchester County Hazard Mitigation Plan Update Is Now Available for Public Review

We want to thank all Village residents who contributed comments and completed the questionnaire for the Westchester County Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). The Hazard Mitigation Plan is now available for public review at www.westchesterhmp.com. Click here to read the plan and provide input during the public review period.

We are asking all residents to review the draft of the plan and give feedback. The projects and information included in the HMP allows our community to become eligible for grant funding opportunities to minimize losses from natural disasters. The Public Review Period is open until December 17, so don’t miss this chance to have your voice be heard! Your support and responses are greatly appreciated!


Community Capital of New York (CCNY) Providing Small Grants to Micro Businesses

Westchester County entered into an agreement with Community Capital of NY (CCNY) to provide micro businesses (under 5 employees) who have suffered documentable financial loss due to COVID a small grant to help the business stay open. The criteria includes:

  1. Must be a 2020 consortium member
  2. Must be able to document loss
  3. Must be either owned by a low/mod owner or be in a low mod neighborhood or serve 51 % low mod clientele.
  4. Cannot have received another benefit unless the loss is greater than the actual economic loss AND the other grant or loan benefit.

Westchester County Hosts Vaccine Clinics for Eligible Kids

Westchester County is encouraging parents to make appointments to get children ages 5-11 vaccinated. The County has partnered with local school districts to host clinics in the schools and at the County Health Department. Contact your local district (Rye Neck or Mamaroneck) to find out when clinics will be at your child’s school.

The County has also put together this video showcasing local children receiving the vaccine and getting their reaction, to help encourage others to “Kick COVID-19 to the Curb.”

A parent or guardian must be present for any child to receive a vaccine.
