Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for April 21, 2020

MAMARONECK, New York, April 21, 2020 — We offer the following announcements for today, Tuesday, April 21:

Community Effort to Feed the Hungry by Mayor Tom Murphy

LM Hunger Task Force 2020-04-21Today I was proud to participate in a community effort to relieve some of the growing, gnawing hunger that is being caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in our Village This was truly a community effort. It was organized by the Larchmont/Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force and other community not for profits. The logistics, tables and barricades supplied by the Village of Mamaroneck. The tents by the Village of Larchmont. This all happened on the Mamaroneck Avenue School parking lot agreed to by the MUFSD School Board.

There where dozens of volunteers who supplied the muscle and the love to give out 600 heavy bags of groceries. This was all down safely and orderly while practicing social distancing and all the precautions urged by the CDC.

I wish I could tell you that the problem has been solved and the task of helping those who need a hand is complete. But the truth is that the road before us is long and hard and the need will grow much greater before it subsides.

That is why it is so vitally important that those of us who have the means to help make an effort in this dark hour. Please, if you can, join me in contributing to help  hungry folks who are our neighbors and friends. Give what you can to:

Let’s make sure that no kid in this community goes to bed hungry during this emergency. There is no need for that.  We are all too blessed to allow that to happen.

Courage,

Tom Murphy
Mayor, Village of Mamaroneck
