Hillside Avenue Bridge Replacement Project

In September of last year, the Village, with the support of the Town of Mamaroneck and Town of Rye, Village of Rye Brook & Village of Port Chester submitted a grant application to the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) under its BridgeNY Program in the amount of $3,000,000 to replace the Hillside Avenue Bridge over the Mamaroneck River. This is a program through which 95% of eligible costs would be reimbursable with a 5% local share that would be split among the three municipalities. The replacement of this bridge is necessary to realize the maximum benefits of the United State Army Corps of Engineers flood risk reduction project for the Mamaroneck and Sheldrake Rivers.

By e-mail of January 14, 2017, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) informed the Village of Mamaroneck that it was the recipient of a $2,850,000 grant to replace the Hillside Avenue Bridge over the Mamaroneck River and shortly thereafter, after executing all of the necessary contract documents, the Village sought proposals from qualified engineering firms with expereince designing projects of this nature. The Village has retained the services of Hudson Valleyt Engineering Associaties (HVEA) to design the project.

Based on the agreement between the State of New York and the Village, the official start date of this project was June 15, 2017 and pursuant to the contract, the Village must award a construction contract by December 15, 2018.

A Public Information Meeting was held on October 23, 2017 at which, the representatives reviewed the project with the Village of Mamaroneck Board of Trustees and the public. The meeting can be viewed on LMC-TV's website, or by clicking here. A public comment period has been opened until November 22, 2017 during which time, interested individuals can provide comments to the Village and our engineers to consider during the design process by e-mailing hillsidebridge@vomny.org.

Relevent project documents are included above. If you have any question, please contact Mr. Daniel Sarnoff, Assistant Village Manager at (914) 777-7703.
