The structure supporting part of Harbor Island Park at the southeast corner of U.S. Route 1 (a.k.a. East Boston Post Road) and Mamaroneck Avenue (commonly referred to as Harbor Island "Pocket" Park) will be removed and replaced. The Pocket park will be reconstructed and a new sidewalk will also be installed on the southside of the new bridge. Two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained throughout construction.
