Clean & Green Day Graphic PNGHappy Earth Day from the Village of Mamaroneck! Have you signed-up to volunteer for the Village's Clean & Green Day? Already, 150 people have signed-up to help at 12 different Village locations - but we could still use a few more helping hands (especially Saxon Drive, Bub Walker Park, and the sidewalks along Mamaroneck Avenue north of Columbus Park). Clean & Green Day will take place on Saturday, May 1st. (In the event of rain, Clean & Green Day will take place on Sunday, May 2nd.) The event will begin at 9:30am at the Marine Education Center in Harbor Island Park with some opening remarks and free giveaways.

Visit www.vomenvironment.com to sign-up and for more information including:

  • An online sign-up form with detailed information for volunteers.
  • An online map of the clean-up locations.
  • Information about how to get FREE garden compost soil from the Village's Compost Soil Give Back Program
  • Food Waste Recycling Kits
  • And more!

Volunteers are expected to wear face masks and (when possible) to follow social distancing protocols.

Last year's Clean & Green Day was canceled (due to the pandemic); but please enjoy this video by LMC Media of the Community Resource Center's participation in 2019's Clean & Green Day:

They say, “Many hands make light work.” Let’s come together to celebrate our environment and the Village of Mamaroneck for Clean and Green Day!

And for today: The Village's Marine Education Center will be talking everything Earth during a virtual program today, Thursday, April 22nd, from 10:30am to 11:00am! Go to the Marine Education Center's Facebook page and ask questions live. And this afternoon, beginning at 2:00pm, for ages 5 and up, the Marine Education Center will host a Biodegradation Scavenger Hunt. Students will learn about biodegradation times of common trash items and then engage in an exciting outdoor game/scavenger hunt that relates to biodegradation times. For more information about today's event and all the Marine Education Center's educational events and activities, visit their Programs/Events page.
